For everything, down to the scribbles.
Now that the contest is over, I can say this. This piece was heavily inspired by Walter de la Mare. Someday, I will get over how good he is, and my writing will evolve. Or maybe I will lean more into his style. It was a joy to write and exactly the story I wanted to tell. "Tinkle-tinkle went the bell, up and down twice: shrill, tinny, deliberate, forceful, effective."

I was guessing Poe and his poem about the "tintinnabulation of the bells... Of the bells bells bells bells bells bells..."

That's funny. I had not read that Poe poem. Obviously de la Mare was a Poe fan. Funny I channeled through like that. De la Mare writes about bells a lot but I got this idea from his novella "out of the deep"
