Fiction writers, how do you come up with all those awesome art concepts for your writing? AI, freelance artists, or doing it yourself? I feel like I’m going to regret it, but I’m about to go down a rabbit hole of learning 2D character art. (I can’t draw)

If you have finished your book or short story or whatever it is, start drawing or even hiring someone or whatever is right for you. I think it is fun to do character drawings. But if you haven’t finished at least the first draft, I think that you need to focus more on your writing than with learning how to draw. If you want consistency, use a sticky note and write the key features. Or if you want inspiration, go on Pinterest and create boards. It helps to visualise the characters.
I honestly have tried to draw my characters and I ended up disappointed of putting so much time to create sth that doesn’t resemble what I have in my mind. And instead of continuing to draw it, I decided to become better at describing it with words. But if you want to draw you character, you can def try why not❤️
Always try to steer clear of AI. Ask an artist, take a photo, draw it yourself, pay someone to draw what you need or buy an image from a freelancer. I can't draw at all but try to take a photo of what a rewrite or ask an artist to draw what I want. If all else fails there are still plenty options to avoid using AI. Just try and draw it yourself, put it on here and we can see how you get on.
