I’m a quiet reader and my spouse a constant loud TV watcher. Anyone with tips on how to deal?

I would recommend confronting your spouse. See if you can agree on a solution. Maybe they can turn the TV off or down for an hour for you to read. Maybe encourage them to take up a hobby outside of TV watching. They can work on that while you’re reading. It is completely reasonable for you to want quiet time with a book.

Interestingly enough he has a hobby that takes him away from the home for many hours. Unfortunately, he is injured and can’t play golf for a while. I try to coordinate my “quiet time” around that. In the meantime, I’m doing what I can to read with noise. But for me, I like to absorb the material without friction. It’s not as enjoyable unless it’s quiet.
That's a tough one. My ex would suggest noise-cancelling headphones/earbuds. Perhaps with a soft white noise, or there's other color noises as well....[[|:-)

These tools are helpful but not the same as silence. The headphones help a ton. I have to train myself to tune things out.
I'm sorry, that sounds like a frustrating situation. I hope you can find a resolution....[[|:-)
