Is every piece of art just a deeper level of reading away from being a masterpiece?

While “great art” makes deep reading easier and rewards the attention of the reader, if one digs deeply enough, every surface area has potential meaning
This is why I'm hesitant to say something isn't good. There are certainly cases where that applies, but I feel like it has to be obvious crap. Otherwise, maybe it's just not for me. Maybe I'm not seeing what would make it wonderful for someone else.
Exactly! The magic of being misunderstood. But each line is a plea to an individual not yet seen, an invocation for a magic not yet written. So I just assume I don’t get it before I think it’s bad
Depends on the depth of the contemplating entity. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and all.
This question is setting off a ton of tangential thoughts. Maybe. Probably. Maybe not. In some cases (but you did use the word 'every'; doesn't work very well to say 'sometimes every piece of art...'). Nevertheless, I may brazenly use this concept for inspiration.
Yea admittedly “every” was a little heavy handed. Just trying a new lens for appreciating art, where my misunderstanding is a feature and not a bug. And I love that you could use it for inspiration, I hope it helps!
