Are you able to focus on your work with racket in the vicinity? If so, how do you do it? Because if there is a way, I've definitely not found it. I mean close range bulldozer or backhoe activity.

Sadly, I can't even listen to music while writing. My brain doesn't move sound to a mental "background". I use noise canceling earbuds when I don't have control of sound, and I work in a quiet room at home.

This particular case I am trying something other than writing, but it is the same with writing, same with anything requiring focus. And it isn't just the backhoe out there today (although that's today's culprit). Sometimes it is people talking or whatnot. It's like The Ongoing Dilemma.
