I haven’t mentioned this on this site so Hi my name is Helen and I’m really obessessed with Pluto. Did you know that the heart shape has a name? It’s called Sputnik Planitia and the western half is the Tombaugh Reggio, the border of which is formed by tall knobby mountains called the Hilary Montes. Pluto is made of rock water ice and more intense ices like methane and nitrogen. Our atmosphere would freeze solid on Pluto. Pluto is tidally locked with its moon Charon so they always show each other the same side and Charon never leaves the Plutonian sky. Pluto rotates opposite of earth, so the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. High noon on Pluto is still very dark and comparable to sometime around midnight depending on where you are on earth. Pluto’s reddish color comes from a goopy material called tholins which are made when stuff like methane breaks down under UV radiation.
