Random question: What do you guys define as a fake fan? I started to get into Formula One a while back but the only thing stopping me from going all in is the toxic fans. Does that make me a fake fan or something? Usually, I say I don't like F1 but I'm lowkey interested.

never thought being a fake fan was possible tbf—you like something or you don’t. if you don’t, you aren’t a fan and if you are, you’re a fan. if you like formula one you’re a fan, it’s as simple as that :D

I don't think liking something and genuinely being interested in it but not being a full fanatic means you're a fake fan. I think the whole fake fan thing started as a way to shame women for liking typical male things but not being absolutely unhinged about them. It was also a way to shame teen girls who wore band t-shirts but couldn't tell you the name of every single song in order of release. You're a fan if you're a fan, be-it a die hard or a casual fan.
I wouldn't really know since I've never actually been a fan of anything. I never realised it was based around women. I've actually seen more women call others fake fans which is slightly ironic.

Yeah, fangirls can be crazy... Trust me I know, I like K-Pop. They be wildin over there. But you can like things casually, you can watch F1 and have a favourite pilot or team. You can watch because you like the rules, and not care who wins. All of is is still enjoying the thing. If you enjoy the thing, nothing else matters.
I guess so. It just throws me off how toxic majority of the fans are and sometimes I feel like I'm only holding onto it for one driver.

I like F1, but I don't see anything online so I'm unaware of it being toxic. I'm sorry they're ruining your enjoyment.

K-pop fans also depend on which group you like. My first was BTS and yea they're a bit too much over. I still like BTS but I found the fans for Seventeen were a lot better and less toxic in a way so it became fun there for a while too
I've heard some interesting stories about k-pop fans. Particularly one idol getting his house broken into twice and secret cameras and stuff.

Most groups have insane fans. Some are just bigger fandoms, so the insane multiplies. I like BTS and Ateez. Ateez fans are more chill, but there's less of them, so the insane ones don't find each other so easily. I'm only there for the music and the beats, so I don't care.

if you're interested then you're a fan. doesn't matter how big of a fan you are. a fan is a fan. you don't have to know the details of every race or the racers or knowing how each and every single thing works to be classified as one. anyone who says you aren't can politely go away. enjoy what you want!
