The Initiation?
They slowly opened their eyes as they came around, rubbed them and realised it was dark, completely dark.
“Hello?” whispered Abi.
“Is that you Abi?” Sarah whispered back.
“Bloody hell Sarah, where are we? I cant move, I think I am tied to a chair or something. Have we been knocked out? I feel awful.” Abi said in a hushed, worried tone.
“oohh! I don’t know. I…” Sarah grabbed the side of her head as a bolt of pain flew through behind her eyes. “ Aahh, my head is so sore! I remember we were at the initiation ceremony but not a lot else, I think we had to drink out of the big silver cup thing! I don’t remember much after that except it got real dark!” Sarah said in a groggy, slow manner.
“Are you okay, are you hurt?” Abi raised her voice a bit on hearing Sarah’s groans.
“Yea, I think so, I just feel a bit light headed and, to be honest, a lot freaked out! Is this part of the initiation or have we actually been kidnapped? Sarah said in her lowest voice.
“Don’t say that” came a very quick reply from Abi.
“What” replied Sarah.
“Shhhhh! Kidnapped of course!” retorted Abi, “everyone will jump out soon and complete the initiation, then it will all be over and they will want to party back at the house to celebrate in style.”
“Hopefully very soon, I don’t like this darkness, it is so dark and so quiet” Sarah whispered as a bead of sweat rolled down the side of her face, wishing she could open her already open eyes and it would be light.
“Hello!” Abi shouted “ We are awake and ready to be initiated"
“Okay guys, we don’t want to stay in the dark anymore, I don’t like it!” Sarah said in a much bolder voice. She screamed and tried to kick her legs but they seemed to be attached to the chair with rope that gave a bit of movement.
Abi’s mind raced away from her, they could be in any place at any time. She did not want to panic Sarah anymore than she was so kept it to herself. Four strip lights in a square formation on the roof flickered on and then off almost instantaneously. Sarah and Abi let out a little scream as the lights came on as the shock and light hurt their eyes and took them by surprise.
“Did you see anything?” Abi cried out.
“No nothing really, you in a chair and a big table behind you. I think I saw either a large window or a big mirror behind you, like on TV when they are in the police station getting quizzed!” Sarah said, her voice started to break.
“Come on guys, put the lights on. This is enough, It’s not a joke anymore” Abi said in a much stronger voice than she had been using up until now.
“Please” they both shouted.
