The Goblin Gazette: February 2026
what I've been up to these past 28 days

Hey ya’ll!
I've always wanted to start a blog. I feel oddly compelled to write about my life (which mostly means I just like talking). So here we are: my first post, hopefully one of many. I'm glad you're here!
(you can follow me here and/or subscribe to me on Substack, I'll be publishing on both for now!!)
Overview
Overall, a solid month.
I'm giving it a four out of five stars. Worked through a lot of mental health stuff this February, so I can't give it a perfect score… but brighter day are ahead!
Books
Currently reading:
“If He Had Been With Me” by Laura Nowlin
“The City in Glass” by Nghi Vo
Finished reading:
“Wings of Fire: Talons of Power” by Tui T. Sutherland
(if you're wondering why, at my grown age, I would be reading children's books, I don't have a good answer for you. I honestly just love these books. I'm going to one of Tui’s events soon and I've been rereading the series in preparation of the upcoming release of the 16th book. It's a treat to my inner child ✨)
Unfortunately, I DNF'D “City of All Seasons” by Oliver K. Langmead and Aliya Whiteley. It seems like such an interesting book, but it wasn't going anywhere and it was taking me a very long time to read just a few pages. I had other books to get to so… I kinda just… gave up on it. Sorry, guys. Maybe I'll come back to it some other time.
Music
The totals here are based on my listening data, but the “top five’s” are determined by me (i ain't need no computer to tell me what I like 😠)
Minutes listened: 2,501
Songs Played: 1000
Top five artists:
aeseaes
Telanova
Florence + The Machine
Dove Ellis
Paris Paloma
Top five songs:
IN THE NAME OF YOUR LOVE by Telanova
Fight For Me by AlicebanD
Good Girl by Paris Paloma
Sandman by Dominic Fike
Love Is by Dove Ellis
Honorable Mention: Em Beihold released her debut album, Tales of a Failed Shapeshifter, on February 27th. And let me tell you, it is so amazing and whimsical and I recommend you listed to it.
A lot of artists a follow have been releasing new music (or teasing albums), so I've spent a good amount of time this month with my headphones on. I won't link all the artists here or we’d never reach the end of this post. But, hopefully soon I'll be sharing some album reviews with ya’ll.
Movies/Shows/Films
I didn't watch a ton of TV this month, mostly TV over dinner or something playing in the background while working. But for the sake of interest, I'll also include the movies/shows I watched in January.
Shows
Psych, 2006
Brooklyn 99, 2013
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, 2022
Ted Lasso, 2020
Critical Role: The Mighty Nein, 2025
Most of these are family shows. We are a Tv-over-dinner household (interpret that how you will, we still talk through the episodes).
Movies
The Running Man, 2025
I thought this one was great. The acting was good and the movie carried it's energy throughout. I didn't expect it to be as politically pointed as it was, and I mean that as a compliment. It made a very strong statement and didn't shy away from anything.
Greenland, 2020
A movie about a comet headed towards earth- humanity is bound for extinction. An interesting premise, but it just did not live up to expectations. The execution was definitely lacking. A lot of the characters decisions just did not make sense. And large amounts of it felt unexplained. The movie was tense, and I was certainly engaged, but as the movie went on I grew more and more annoyed because “Why would they do that?” and “That doesn't make sense!” and “How is that even…” You get the idea.
The Lego Batman Movie, 2017
Friends came over, we out this on… I had forgotten how unhinged and hilarious this movie is. (I also forgot how gay-coded Batman and Joker are lmfao… please tell me someone know what I'm talking about 🙏)
Videos
YouTube recommendations led me to some interesting places this month.
Amber Glenn performs "Vampire" at Patriot Figure Skating Club's 2024 Ice Show
"Salvatore" - Isabeau Levito performs Lana Del Rey at 'Gold on Ice' 2024
With the winter Olympics going on this month, I found myself more interested in figure skating and YouTube kept recommending me skating videos. These two are my favorite performances so far.
Don't ask. I don't know.
Baby, I'm the Wolf, The Film (Full Movie)
I've been really into Ha Vay’s music lately, and I found this while looking for her music videos. I just love the vibes- whimsical, eerie, beautiful and slightly unsettling just like a fairy tale.
Outfits
these are my favorite fits for this month! pants are all American eagle (middle pair is thrifted), jackets are from Francesca's, and the shirts and sweatshirt are all thrifted. The belt on the middle outfit is vintage from the 70’s, my lovely mother gave it to me ✨
At some point this February, in a journey through my own mind, I realized how strange it is that as a country, we claim to value freedom and independence, yet reward conformity. That conformity is the norm, and difference is feared. I don't know… so many people I see online look identical. It occured to me that, maybe, allowing me to express myself more could be really beneficial to my health and well-being. I'm donating the clothes I don't wear, buying more intentionally, and wearing what feels like me. That's the whole point, right? Be yourself, ya’ll.
Creative Updates
Obviously, I've been working on posts here, but I've also been trying to return to art. I recently purchased some item for a new craft: bead embroidery. Let me know if you'd like updates on how that goes.
And of course, continuing (or continuing to avoid) working on my novel. 🫡
What am I looking forward too?
I'm really, really, REALLY, looking forward to going to the library today. It's a small thing but I love the library and I love books.
I'm also ready for spring; winter is starting to really drag on my spirit.
That's all for now! More to come soon 🩷
