The Faerie Queen | Poem
And the Waters of Doon
Mar 29, 2026 · 1 min read

I’ve written a fairy tale or two in my time, so when I saw the Fairytales & Folklore Digest, I thought to submit this one. It’s a fairytale embedded within a domestic tale (very meta). I wrote this for my middle granddaughter. I do hope you enjoy it. (Shhh, don’t tell Substack, I’ve not posted it there - yet).
In case you missed it

This has a lovely, sly warmth to it. The domestic setup feels grounded and human, then it slips into fairy tale without losing that gentle humor, especially lines like requesting an injunction and “the victorious.” It reads like affection disguised as storytelling. Great job Tim.
