Sometimes we just forget the words

I, like many others, recall a time when I would always have the radio going, singing along to my favorite songs, waiting till the DJ would play a new hit single and I'd rush to hit record on the casssset to grab that unique sound.
Later, it was CDs and Records I'd collect. Wanting to support the creators I love so much and fill my space with their awesome tracks.
After that, things went digital and Apple Music was all the rage. I still remember obsessively converting my library to fit into that once perfectly made digital machine, iPad Classic.
But somewhere along the way, I stopped listening to the music. Company priorities began to drive my day-day. ~"No music allowed, it's distracting and unprofessional."
The once cool hits were replaced with the dull percussion of the "adult" life. The sound of the snare turned to the thud of the hammering keyboard, clicking away.
Till I found I couldnt sing anymore without a tear forming in my eye.
I didn't feel particularly sad; I was successful, making it in the world. I had a wonderful hubby, a place to sleep, food in my belly… Why would I cry? Easy solution, I just don't feel like singing, So I stopped.
I thought on this for a long while. Till nearly a year had passed by. One day, I was reminded by an old photo of a time now past. I was inspired to play one of my old fav songs and as I did, my eyes dumped buckets without any announced provocation. But, why?! I'd ask again… Till I listened and found, I was mouthing the tune, but no longer knew the words to my favorite song.
This hurt, like I had ignored a part of myself I once held so close. Like I had betrayed an old friend. How could I forget?!
Since then I have found, You must sing through the tears…
Sing Sing Sing- through every valley and ford.
You Must Make Music Every Day
Sing, whistle, tap - We quickly begin to forget the words to the song in our spirit if we don't.
You can tell if you're sad if you can't manage to sing your favorite song without crying or choking up. Even if you're not aware of the cause.
Though you may not recall all the words, your soul will remeber the melody.
So if you find that you are a lil sad, Make music everyday and bit by bit you'll remember the song of your soul. 🥰

“Make music every day and bit by bit you’ll remember the song of your soul”! So beautifully written! The reason why you cried is because a part of your soul felt at peace. It happens to me too, the moment i let myself go of the “fight-or-flight” mode and remind myself of peace. Your soul finally feels alive instead of being suppressed of surviving the everyday race of the world. And this post you wrote feels alive too and so inspiring. Music truly is a gift for the soul…thank you so much for the story you wrote! It inspired me to write something!!!
