When the cows were thick
As flies on the pelt
Of the fallen carcass of Typhōeús.
It were cold,
It were some time ago,
Upon some ashen field,
Beside the park,
Where breath plumed heavy from their snouts,
And the cowpokes tightened Carharts
Against the screaming northern wind.
