Shut up about AI, already.

As a Computer Science student, I am no stranger to AI. At a conservative estimate, 50% of my peers use an AI in some way, shape, or form. And I’m done with it.

I do not want to hear about AI anymore. For so long, all people around me talk about is either:

• “AI is super cool bro, you should use it or its gonna like replace you and you’ll be homeless or something like that”, or

• “AI is going to destroy everything because it steals artwork and its going to turn humanity into brainless sheep”

Let me just make my position clear on this - I hate AI - with a burning passion. I hate that people use it to create so-called “art”, I hate that people use it to steal other people’s work, I hate that it is destroying our environment.

But right now, what I hate more, is the discussion itself. I cannot go a single day without hearing about AI. Even in my sleep, it seems that all my little dream people just drone on and on about it. I just can’t take it anymore.

This discussion has gone on for too long. Yeah, AI companies are shit, but I don’t care anymore. There are far more important things in life than whether GandalfSlayer420_67 used AI in a post or not. I don’t care if you use AI to code something. Because if you have, I’ll just pretend it doesn’t exist. I’m tired of it.

There’s no point in fighting all of these AI gurus and tech bros - within a year or two they’ll have moved onto the next big thing - building giant mirrors around the earth to speed up global warming or something.

Sorry that this has been a bit all over the place - as I’m sure you can tell I really haven’t planned this. I don’t even know what to call it - a rant? Venting?

Either way, all I’m trying to say is shut up. Shut up about AI. Don’t give the people who use it the attention they so desperately want. Don’t add more fuel to the fire. I know I don’t want any part in this debate anymore.

I’m done. I don’t want to talk about this, or hear about it anymore.
