Review of the film Belle de Jour 167

This is a French language film which I watched with the original soundtrack and English subtitles.
The film follows a young woman, newly married, to a handsome young Doctor. Unfortunately, though, Belle is unable to consummate the marriage. Despite her Husband being understanding, she is desperate to please him in the marriage. As a last resort, she visits a high class brothel and becomes a high class escort to enable her to finally consummate the marriage.
It was an interesting film if only to see the how much societies acceptance of nudity and sexual contents has changed in 60 odd years. There is virtually no nudity and no sex scenes in the film. The erotic nature of the film comes from suggestion and the audiences' imagination.
I would guess today it would be called "tame", but that isn't a bad thing.
The story was interesting and the characters were well acted.
