Red Ribbon Falling
Sojourner “Hughes” Davidson
I have attended several funerals
At the altar of love and desire
Sometimes shocked
By the method of arrival
An end takes
Sometimes
I am haunted
By the ghost of who I had been
Before loving
Before wanting
There can be an instinct
To jump to the past
Where you had never learned
The sweetness of coming close
In the transformation of want
Into love
A soft spell
Until it breaks
Falling like a shinny
Red ribbon
Teased at the ends
