Queen

Assumptions are poison. It lives on the shelf. Tastes like sugar. Cravings others can't deny. In a bowl. It makes the bread.
We hunger.
See all the insecurities lined up. Dolls without a face. Bodies without heart. On the conveyor belt. Carted off to factories. Painted brand new.
Without blemish. Without a fatal flaw.
People carry the stories on ribbons. Every fortune cookie is a warning.
People speak in tongues. Novels. Manuscripts ready made.
Decided fate.
Sometimes I dream of a world where I am not already sad. Wishing for things I can't have.
People speak in yo yos. They make it dangerous to be loved.
It's not what you give. It's what you got.
I am running in my head. It won't stop. I am running the receipts. To the left. To the right. Upside down. Deceit grows in my bed of make believe.
They aren't what they seem. They want to be real. Capture a memory in my eyes. Pink flowers ungrown. Wait for the sun to rise.
Take an eye for an eye.
I'll be your end.
Your silent witness.
Your borderline.
When I grab her face, I feel her laugh. The chirp of the golden trinkets underneath. Grates my ears. Cackle. From corner to corner. A ghost in the light.
You'll be my end.
I'll never be on a side.
You want to be right.
I'll give you trophy.
A crown fitted for a queen.
It's a razor.
It's a mirror.
A place where you're supposed to see.
No safe harbor. Feet across broken glass. Shards break at the flesh, your rubber tourniquet chokes me with your predetermined song. It lives for its condition, without a thought, a feeling.
Ire, futile. Grief is a yellow canary in the mines.
Felt your knives set in, cave in. Don't ask me to strive for more.
A broken mirror cannot tell the truth.
Do they feel guilty?
Can they remember?
When they break bread by sunflowers. The queen watches her reflection. There's nothing to fill in this bottomless pit. People belong at the convenience of her stride. Love is a deliverable dressed in despair.
Don't lose control. Don't bat an eye. Don't let her see the real.
On her screen, she exalts the righteous and drowns the sinners.
Don't break bread. Don't speak. Don't think.
Don't look away.
