The Leather Feather
The leather feather,
Two things that don’t belong together.
Falls quickly through any weather,
But it probably will last forever.
It’s too dense to perform a tickle,
The leather is worth but a nickel,
It’s tough and not very fickle,
But it is about the size of a pickle.
It’s too heavy to be a quill,
And in strong winds it remains still,
Adorning hats is its best skill,
As a fancy, durable, stylish frill.
The Frightening Lightning
The frightening lightning,
Bringing the air into a tightening,
Hairs on your neck heightening,
Blustery evening lightening.
Strikes with a boom and a flash,
Sounding like a wicked crash.
Sets trees ablaze into ash,
With the brief quickness of a dash.
It’s best just to stay inside,
Get under cover and hide.
Don’t let it hurt your pride,
As it never takes a side.
The Funky Monkey
The funky monkey,
He’s not cool, but lunky,
Some might call him chunky,
But it’s his odor that’s funky.
He has toe jam and eye sleep,
Mud caked inches deep.
Most will yell out bleep,
As his presence makes them weep.
His odor is so sour,
Most beg him to shower,
Quick, within the hour,
Until then they cower.
The Regal Eagle
The regal eagle,
She’s colored like a beagle,
Often mistaken as a seagull,
But admitting that is illegal.
She may not be the queen,
But her garb is pristine,
Her voice, crisp and clean,
And her etiquette, routine.
When she flies she likes to soar,
Gliding on winds by the shore.
Her class is beyond poor,
The kind that just wants more.
