Oblivion and After

The last people on Earth died in screams and silence, storms and heat.

The Earth lived on long after. Healing from human abuse, until the sun ate it.

All the artifacts—all the memories of human life are only energy.

All the humans—all the creatures are only energy.

Stardust and Universe.

Maybe there is life out there, somewhere else. Maybe they did it better. I hope they do it better.

After every star and planet has died, maybe there will be a new big bang.

Maybe this time it will be better.

Or maybe it will end and the universe will collapse in on itself.

I don’t know, I am only human. I don’t know, I am not an astrophysicist or astronomer. I am not omniscient or godly.

I only consider the end.

The sun, A cosmic mother Upset at the state of your room. Cleaning and destroying Your safe space At the end of the universe.

I wish we humans could get our act together and change our relationship with the land, returning to the way indigenous peoples have stewarded it.
