NaPoWriMo 20/30

You fill the space between drop
your yet-to-be-discontinued shark-print cotton face-mask
and every drop of rain on your window.
You fill the space between boots
Estragon puts on / takes off ad absurditātem
and boot prints, islands in abandoned sand.
You fill the space between light
the computer to find dark squares where your students should be
and light blue as the waves my friend sends me from Kona.
You fill the space between moon
light through blinds as you sway,
and moon echoes of the radio sun.
For this poem I borrowed from the refrain for “Night and Morning” by Alina Baraz. Her 2020 album It Was Divine I had on loop in late April into early May of the panini shutdown. When I think back to that time I think of that album, as well as Cape God by Aly X, Future Nostalgia by Dua Lipa, and How I’m Feeling Now (justice for “party 4 u” AT LAST) by charli xcx. Anyway, we’re now 2/3 of the way through NaPoWriMo, ayy!
