My First Paranormal Experience
A conscious vision I had when I was young.
Since it's Friday the 13th, I thought I'd share a true paranormal story. I submitted it to Auntie Matrix, so you might see it on YouTube or TikTok.
I was 5 or 6, and since my father was in the Navy, we were stationed in Hawai’i at the time. I don’t remember a lot from this time, but what I do remember is photographical.
My parents wanted to watch a movie, and since it was a scary movie and close to my bed time, they put me to bed early. The movie was Poltergeist.
In any case, I remember laying in bed not tired yet, but I was a good kid and forced myself to lay there, staring at the ceiling and occasionally hearing loud parts of the movie. I don’t know how long I laid there like that, but I have ADHD (undiagnosed then) so I’m sure it wasn’t long before I became bored.
Now, for some context, I’m quite smart and have a vivid imagination, though I never had an imaginary friend, nor do I think I ever saw ghosts or had ghost friends.
As far as I can tell, I was pretty sheltered. Anyways, I want to say that I was going to ask my mother for a glass of water when a vision suddenly painted the ceiling.
It looked like a large, dark, swirling portal with a large figure in the middle that resembles the modern depiction of The Grim Reaper. Long scythe, skeletal hands and face shrouded by a dark, hooded robe. There were also black wraith-like beings moving around him.
The vision lasted for ten or more seconds before I got scared enough to run to my parents and tell them what I had seen. I know they didn’t believe me, but they let me watch the rest of the movie, lol.
I’ve never had a vision like that since, and I’m 45 now. I also don’t know where that imagery had come from. Maybe Halloween? Although, I don’t remember trick or treating there since we were in off-base housing. I also don’t remember seeing any photos of me dressed up for Halloween from that time.
Not sure what to think about that incident. Definitely gives me chills when I do think about it.
