Miss Slink and Mc'Fluffin Meet a Monster

There once was a dog named Mc'Fluffin,
Whose fur was as soft as plush stuffin'.
He bounced down the street,
With his nail-tapping feet,
And a nose that was always a-snuffin’.
There once was a cat named Miss Slink,
Who sipped from her saucer of pink.
She’d dance on the rail,
With a swish of her tail,
And leap to the ledge in a blink.
There once was a beast in the black,
That took but it never gave back.
With claws sharp as knives,
Gave the fright of their lives,
When their parents came under attack.
Mc'Fluffin and Slink ran away,
but their parents were gone the next day.
With sorrowful cries,
And tears in their eyes,
They vowed they would make the beast pay.
So Mc'Fluffin sniffed out the beast's trail,
Through the wind and the snow and the hail.
Miss Slink prowled ahead,
With her whiskers outspread,
Together they’d surely prevail.
They followed the beast to a cave,
The darkness as cold as the grave.
The kitten and pup
Were forced to split up
If their parents they wanted to save.
Miss Slink faced a monstrous mouse,
Whose jaws were as big as a house.
She darted with speed,
Outsmarted its greed,
And shrank it down small as a louse.
Mc'Fluffin was trapped by a bone,
And buried in a hole all alone.
But he barked loud and strong,
And it echoed along,
Till the ground shook him free with a groan.
Mc'Fluffin and Slink ran the race,
Till together the beast they could face.
With their claws and their bite,
They fought all through the night,
Till the monster was gone without trace.
Then sunshine returned to the land,
'Cause two heroes who made a brave stand.
They found the parents they missed,
Who they ran to and kissed,
This cat and dog, noble and grand.
