may this night along with us not wither away completely
lunar eclipse lyric poem

See that dusty songbird there
caught in rawtooth red eclipse
where fine mothy lightshards
pierce the ghostbeam moonshine dims.
Hear this vagrant breakheart bird
enwebbed in fracture filigree
kaleidoscoped call out a lifesong,
nightingale insistent unstopping.
Oh perishable unseen one, hear me:
my wetwork insurgent flamebrain
beseeches a medicine hierarch -
'relieve this tempest, quell the gust fires,
leave something whole behind at last
of our scattered wreck and fragment'
If not us to change this night's path, who then?
If not in our time, when come the shifted tides?
