letters to spring: let hope blossom
the day you return brings light. I want to be that light for others, too.

Dear Spring,
I’ve had quite a week.
You know, one of those where the feeling of doom grows bigger, closes in and seemingly breaks down onto you any minute.
However heavy-hearted and powerless we might feel sometimes, there’s always the day where you return. When we can let go of that breath we held for too long. When the heaviness slowly fades and the gentle hope within us starts to grow again. The hope that by taking tiny actions it leads us to a better life and hopefully a better world.
As soon as I notice it, I reach for it and don’t let go. I want this hope to stay. I want it to take roots. And I am ready to work for it. By planting strong seeds in my thought garden. By opening the curtains and the windows in my dark stuffy room to let in rays of sunshine that defeat some shadows and accept the existence of both nevertheless.
The world may be full of terrors and darkness but I refuse to let it stand on my shoulders and break me down. I’ve got a good heart, therefore I will build a strong mind.
I believe the goodness in this world can grow, spread and bloom. I believe that love can prevail and always will withstand the hate. I believe all of this has the power to one day overcome the darkness like you, spring, overcame the darkness of winter.
It is truly inspiring how you carry out your mission every year. You never fail to bring light and warmth back into life. While winter lovingly envelops us in its own reserved way, so inconspicuously that many of us do not even notice, you enter every room with your whole presence and joy, impossible to overlook, so that everyone turns their heads to gaze at you in admiration. The life of every party at the party of life.
Like you, I want to let in a little more light every day, let it shine a little further into the dark corners, treat everyone with love, softening cold hearts again.
Show me, spring, how you do it. Show me how I can blossom. I am ready to grow and I want to learn from you.
I look forward to our time together,
Love,
Cassandra
