Keep on running!
May 26, 2026
Tom and Louise ran faster than they had ever run, they didn't even have time to think about how tired they were from running. The rain was lashing down and the only light was a soft yellow glow from the old street lights. They reached a set of old metal gates that had rusted in place but were open just enough for people and animals to squeeze through.
Pausing for breath, they both leaned on what they now realised were gravestones,
"oh shit! how did we end up in here" Louise tried to keep her voice low
A snarling sound came from somewhere in the dark and a clang of metal on metal.
"Lets go!" Tom shouted as he grabbed for louises hand. Louise tried to flick her long, wet hair out of her face as they made there way along the gravestones. Their feet began to feel heavier and heavier with every step and there progress slowed as each step their feet sank deeper and deeper into the mud until they could no longer move.
"I can't move!" cried Louise
"Just try, come on, one big push and you will be free" Tom tried to sound upbeat but it sounded a bit more panicky.
"I feel something moving down there, Louise screamed, " there's something under there" Tears ran down her face, "I cant do it"
Tom managed to grab hold of one of the gravestones and use it to leaver himself free of the mud and pull his legs free.
"Come on Louise, reach over, please, take my hand" Tom pleaded
Tom grabbed a hand and pulled, it came much easier than he had expected, it also felt rather cold and slimy. Tom looked down at his hand and screamed.
