It Never Changes
A poem about war, conflict, and power-lust from the few.
We often draw comparisons
To show our comprehension of
Events past in relation to the now.
History repeating itself,
Though for some its nothing new.
Or rather, this isn’t a repeat
But a continuation to something
That never ended.
The burning piers filled with love,
Sentenced to death by men who
Can’t comprehend humanity.
Treacherous is the cost of
Human life when the importance
Of ambition outweighs all.
When a distraction is needed,
And only the innocent die
To satiate fragile egos of men
Who can never feel shame.
