Hope Hurts

It's easier to believe

the clock is running out.
nothing can be done.
this is the end.

If there is hope

you will hurt again.
you will fail again.
you will break again.

When a plant sprouts

roots push with force.
the seed cracks.
the shell splinters.

But we don't let all the plants die off
just so the seeds will know they are safe.
