Hallucinations Pt. I
Well, that can't be right. Can it?

Rain. Thick pellets pounding against burdened glass panes. Getting louder, harsher, more aggressive as the night roars forward. And in your stead, you lay not in your bed, struggling to keep your eyes closed, but alone in a dark space.
The wet ichor falling from the sky surrounds you, but refuses to let you touch it. Every step pushes it further away, leaving a sullen frown to form on your face.
A loud roar of thunder crackles like blisters across the dark horizon, and you note briefly the gray clouds above. There is something unreal, but the thought is displaced by a question: Why were you here, and what exactly was this place?
When the water swirls around you like
Tears forming from my eyes.
Your dreams shapen like the drops
Of sadness from my misty eyes.
Little droplets of hallucinations,
If it does well to support your choices.
But the sky is no longer blue,
Instead a thick haste of cloud overhead.
A single voice echoes for your attention,
Sounding like a rainstorm moving in
Through the visions rippling in your mind.
Drums, enchanted, banging like thunder.
And a bell emanates from your corset mind.
Then rainbows transform,
All in undecided places.
Red.
Blue.
Pops of green,
Purple and other hues.
A call for a choice you’re unsure
Of how to navigate.
A resonant voice urging
On repeat, a message you fear.
Hallucinate.
Till you can no longer
Think.
Hallucinate till your mind
Is gone…
H a l l u c i n a t e.
“No…” You gasp, panic shoving itself into your chest, much like a relentless hammer. But against the downpour, the sounds become one, driving your heartrate even further. Steps forward become desperate lunges for an exit you can’t find. The voice echoing behind you, steadily keeping pace.
“Hallucinate…” It coos from nowhere and everywhere, its sound beamed from every non-existant corner. You shove your hands into your ears, hard enough to hear a pop, and then you feel it— the ichor rain you could not touch, now dripping down the sides of your face.
Knees buckling, you sob, unable to brace for the fall. Your body slams not into ground, but nothing. Falling. Ceaselessly. To no destination one could comprehend, except for the voice now far behind, hopelessly giving chase.
Till your body shatters, splitting into shards of brilliant colors. It feels like the end, should be the end of you. Just then though, things begin to rewind. The diamond pieces push back together, your form becoming you once more, all in bitter distaste.
Everything moves faster than light, functioning like a tape in reverse. For a moment you’re chasing the voice echoing astutely, and then…
You wake up in your bed, the rain outside quiet and nimble as you feel your heart pounding. Glancing around your room to make sure, you plead that it was finally over. Relief washes over you when nothing else happens, taking the form of a sly smile on your face.
It was… finally over. You breathe in, taking in the strangely wet air in your room, and a stark realization dawns. Before it can be said however, the room winds forward, and you find yourself in the weird place… once more.
Thanks for reading, everyone! Like mentioned earlier, this was also posted on Substack, too. I'm thinking of bringing some of my poems here on occasion. However, there's some content I can't bring over, not until monthly subscriptions and paid subscriber only posts are an option. See you all next time! ^_^
