The label
Scratches
Me in the back
Just like the label
You put on me
I cut off the label
Eventually, I cut our ties, too
There is relief
In both
But I grieve
What I deserved
Better than you could give
A man who couldn't learn
How to let a person
Grow into their own
A father that always
Wanted a son
And thought I was
A daughter
Didn't realize
Pink is not a gender
And a closet is not
A personality
That gender is
Expansive
And so am I
So, he’ll never know
The person I’ve become
The people I became
On the way
And who
I’m becoming
