Freedom of speech

Freedom of speech.
It is a strange construct. We can say any words we choose. We can imbue them with meaning that is uniquely our own. Yet, like so many other examples, putting these particular three in procession enshrines a rigidity that defies its very soul.
Freedom of speech.
It is a flawed construct. I choose my meaning. I communicate it with words freely woven. Now, I shall speak an uncomfortable perspective. These three words cannot ward you from harm, because freedom can never truly be protected. A gilded suit of armour is still a cage.
Freedom of speech.
It is a transitory construct. It cannot be assembled, but it can be applied. It cannot be guaranteed, but it can be gifted. It cannot be secured, but it can be stolen.
Freedom of speech.
It is a human construct. Make your choice. Be a man. Use your voice. But understand that when your choice is to deliberately belittle, to wound, to make another's world smaller; that is nothing to do with freedom. That, is tyranny.
Tyranny of speech.
