Fire & Brimstone

I. Fire
It was never my liver.
If the story was born today,
you would say it was my heart.
The liver was the home of emotions.
Love, desire, grief, rage...
The fire that drives you!
I could not set you free,
but I could push the odds in your favor!
I made sure it was decided
that you got the meat from the sacrifice.
But he who holds the most power
has no concerns about using it.
I played the game,
but you paid the price.
So I stole the fire back for you!
How could I leave you to die
while he found pleasure
in very warm beds?
No, it was not my liver that was eaten.
It was worse.
I woke each day
filled with the fire of love!
Torn from me, little by little,
knowing it would all happen again.
II. Brimstone
Someone decided I was a snake.
Let's say I was, then.
All snakes must be punished
because one revealed a lie?
By the way, it wasn't an apple.
But checking the facts isn't your specialty.
Let the goat carry the burden
so Abraham keeps his son!
It is an honor of service
to wear the hooves and horns.
You try camping alone -
forty days and forty nights -
and not learning who you are.
But let's just say I tempted you.
Every hero needs an Adversary
to make the story good.
Just remember that the villain
often thinks that he is the hero.
Sulfur, salt, mercury...
Recipe for the soul.
Do not eat from the tree,
and you remain just body and mind.
You cannot be liberated
without a touch of brimstone.

I have your bell on now. I really like Brimstone. Yeah, it was a fig, which is why they wore fig leaves, right? Also, villain is a typo. You seem like the type to want to fix that....[[|:-)
