Fabric Softener
Soak, wash, rinse, dry, repeat
Apr 11, 2026 · 1 min read

April come she will.
If you read last week’s poem, On Distant Shores (linked below), I introduced April’s theme—rejects. This month I’ll be posting poems that were short-listed for one of my poetry books, but in the end, didn’t make the cut.
This poem, Fabric Softener, has since been put through the wash cycle several times. I’m hoping it’s finally come clean. You get to decide. Give it a look, a sniff and maybe a good shaking.
I’m always interested in what readers think of my poems, especially these not-quite rejects, so if you have an opinion, I’d love to hear it.

In case you missed it
