beg for meats,

tiny squeaks,

beefy barks,

heads like sharks,

made o’ quarks—

leashes tangle, circles square,

knotted just like pony hair.

let’s do a dance to disentangle,

over arms and under ankle,

crossed my pants, through your bangles—

my dog lies back like he is dead,

on the grass, the floor, the bed,

legs in the air like rigor mortis

like a supine bug or tortoise.

gravity pulls his dog lips down,

looking like a fuzzy clown.
