DESTINY INTO HURRICANE
CHAPTER 2
Hernuil felt himself being somewhere else, oh was it his house? but it didn’t seem like the one now. Oh is it his parents? Hernuil could see himself, the young one. Maybe this was his young self having the time of his life with his parents. Well, they couldn’t just come back, can they? he could suddenly feel pain, oh someone was yelling his name. Not again, someone really slapped hard across his face. He woke up suddenly and put his body up, he saw them again. It was Melborn.
he yelled ‘why do you always slap?, it hurts’.
she said ‘well of course, how then should I wake you up?’.
All of them looked so injured, Sander held his arm tight and blood dripped from his hands. He looked at him with one eyes closed, with a lot of pain. The school seemed to be in the worst state, so many people lay dead shocked. He couldn’t bear this scene, it was so similar to what he experienced so many years ago. The odor of blood still lingering in his nose, people wailing at the sight of their loved ones. What else would traumatize him for the rest of his life? he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, now he wanted to survive.
He said ‘we need to get out of here’.
Sander said ‘but how? The Sun Scissors have taken the whole island and the Island Ties’.
Melborn said ‘let’s find a way out, I don’t think anyone else here survived. If they took the whole island and the Island Ties, maybe they took over our houses too’.
Chrise nodded and said ‘we might have to get out to save the others’.
Sander said ‘but how the heck did they take us over? isn’t it nearly impossible?’. Hernuil said ‘it was supposed to be totally impossible’.
Chrise said ‘I don’t really understand how they broke through the signal barrier’
These Islands actually live close by in the ocean of Tenlitors, at one point even the Sun Scissors lived along with this island. But due to a huge outbreak, a war ensued. People were forced to send the Sun Scissors out. The Sun Scissors lived in a far off island. When the other island people feared more problems, they created a barrier which was made using intricate and complex signals. They connect every Island that stayed together and produce a barrier. It is protected by a computer called the Hedgehog Silverman. It is actually impossible to break it, we need to use complicated programming to actually break it from producing the barrier which will take years to understand. The signal goes to every Island in an order, the order was written and kept safely in archives, it was a thin old parchment paper roll capable of twisting and breaking when touched. The signals took years to write, it took many conversations to write it. It was destined to never break. The computer stayed unscathed in the Ermile Tower, but even if it were to be destroyed, it could be done only from inside.
Sander said ‘how did they break the signal barrier?’.
Melborn exclaimed ‘ask us!!’.
Chrise said ‘now let’s find a way to get out and figure how it all happened?’.
Sander said ‘al…right!!’.
Chrise said carefully ‘listen’
‘there is a way, it is to walk out of here by heading upstairs and we should use the ladder to head to the ground, then we can run to the wall and jump outside but it’s very difficult’.
They looked up twice, they couldn’t map out a plan to get out of here. Their bruises ached really horrendous, the floor had splattered blood and water. This place is now an abomination, they couldn’t stand to watch the terror in everyone’s face. But all of them were willing to question the sudden silence, panic crept into them. A feeling that kept insisting that something is yet to come. Oh what a build up, Sander fought his knees and hands, it was smarting. Some foul smell entered their nose, was it some sort of lethal gas? They knew they need to hurry out.
Sander groaned ‘ah, the pain is really so bad, I don’t know where I went and hit myself’.
Endemi said ‘right, we need to get a first aid kit or we might not be able to run’.
Hernuil remembered and he said ‘oh, it’s upstairs in the medical room and I also saw packet food lying’.
Everyone felt ravenous so absolutely some treat like that wouldn’t hurt, all of them ran upstairs as if it was going to be a great repast. Well, in all that pain, food can be rejuvenating. The stairs felt skiddy, they knew they were to fall headfirst if they didn’t amble. But they were scared, they needed help so they didn’t care about that. Sander was heavily injured from top to bottom, full of scratches and gashes. He must have fallen hard, the fire burnt marks very heavily visible. He was in the front so the fire must have affected him the most. The gash he had was very long, Endemi tied it with her hanky. But he was pretty stoic, he climbed up with great difficulty without any help. Endemi offered to help but he neglected and was climbing solely. The others didn’t have much bruises and Hernuil just hit his head hard but he was fine. They reached the room, it was an utter disarray, the shelf had fallen down and everything was totally shaken by the bang. Well they found the medical kit, the only one with less injuries that is Endemi tended to everyone’s wounds. She aided the worst hit Sander Solly first. He had great resistance, he didn’t make big sounds.
Chrise complimented ‘you would make a great nurse, Endemi’.
Endemi said ‘oh, I have dreamt of that but it is better to become a veterinarian’.
they both giggled, Sander lay there flat. Chrise said ‘why is it very silent? I haven’t heard another sound after we woke up’.
Hernuil said ‘maybe they checked everyone when we were unconscious and confirmed that everyone is dead’.
Chrise said ‘might be, but we are very lucky’.
Everyone was treated now, they started exploring what kind of food was there.
Chrise said ‘Denvoc, that’s like my favorite’.
Everyone started picking their favorites, they sat down in each corner and opened their packets. They gobbled up each piece and ate to their heart’s content. What a bad day, when you felt “what a clement day” in the morning. It all takes some wild turn and turns into this. The food was nice though, Endemi took a bag and packed in some food. She was always very prudent. The outside was still silent, after all that panic they couldn’t help but fear this silence.
Chrise said ‘so which way do we go? the one I said or.....’.
Hernuil said ‘why don’t we check the front door once, it’s very silent I feel like they went somewhere else, let’s give it a shot’. They all nodded and started eating again. The food was over and their tummy felt full. They were all worrying about their families, but Hernuil didn’t have to worry. They just all dozed off while thinking.
sorry, the explanation to the Signal Barrier is bad, I will give it better in the upcoming ones.
