Desperation

I wish I was never one for desperation

But desperation's become an old friend I should ditch

The anxiety feels paradoxical—comfortable for its familiarity but uncomfortable in the moment

Desperation makes me wish I was a snake

But I'm not willing to bleed

Because there's no one willing to clean up the mess

And I don't think I'd survive it
