Demands
Scene says another dose is due. Says evaporation is guaranteed recourse, unless the request comes through, and coming through means coming through in full.
Participants will have to return to scouring secondhand outlets, estate sales, and dumpsters. Fork over for extra enlarged photographs. Except water shots will not work because photographic waters though pretty do not ripple. Participants can relocate to the coast. Think this scene's price is dear? Good luck out there where the wealthy own all the sweet spots. But sorrow for you need not clunk your conscious awareness of the beautiful flowers for pictures and scenting; gastronomical riches for palate and plate, or for those inclined, for publishing in public squares; strolls along wholesome roadways where cows calmly munch clover. Just get hold of what the scene is demanding.
Demanding, so demanding, this which has grown into a nearly nightmare, contrast cuts double sharp upon remembrance of the peculiar spark; peculiar for duckling-level cute, and softness.
Folded the message and removed specs. Nose-rub indicative of weariness. Tossed the paper to the desk.
"These are the days I sometimes wish I'd taken up a working class trade. Learned some kind of practical work that people actually need. Carpentry. Potato farming. Not chicken farming. Civil engineering, yes, I think I could've... at least from here I like to think I could've."
"I understand. But I am expected to return with a reply, and I am to bring another dose of the sap, or at least the promise of more sap."
"It isn't enough the emotion-stuffed tough guy breaks down when seeing the error of his ways? Goodness, but I think that alone is sappy enough. How about a couple violins? Do we know any violinists?"
"I know of no violinists. I will guess the demand will be for more than a couple violinists."
"Got us by the balls. Got us by the balls. Damn scene got us by the balls. But sappy, I can't handle the sappy, well sure, a little, but this, this is hard core sappy."
The messenger departed.
Tried to sleep in the office, but sleep was elusive.
Next day.
Scene demands a full orchestra.
