Deep Inside of Me

A lake,
surrounded by
a forest of pines.
No house
has been built yet.
Just water and trees.
And turtles.
They sunbathe on
logs that used to be trees.
And fish.
Bass, perch, catfish...
A world under the surface.
Alligator.
She's always there.
Empress of the lake.
And hope.
A safe place where
the sun sets, but hope never sleeps.
