Colours
This poem was originally written on the 26th of February 2024, during a Forensic Genetics class, on the back of a loose sheet of my notes.
It was blue
In my mind when
I said enough.
You didn’t look me
In the eyes;
You used to like
The blue too.
It was red
In the room
When I saw him.
He didn’t look at me
They were blinding.
It was black
When he touched me.
Five letters–
The age I was.
I don’t remember
If he looked at my mother
When he took me back.
It was white,
The sky,
When I jumped in
The sea; I saw
It was grey.
It was yellow
When I closed my eyes
And felt the sun
With the same intensity
I used to feel the blades
Warm down my arms,
Stinging down my spine.
It was green
When I laid on the
Grass at the park
And wished
To never see colour again.
