ARE FAMOUS POP STARS EVEN GOOD??

This whole article is something based on what people think about famous pop musicians out there in the world!! this is something similar to my post “Discussing recent popular music, is it trash?”. But this post is where we are going discuss about the artist in particular and their music!! this is again actually arguments and opinions of various people from many platforms like reddit and Quora.

TAYLOR SWIFT

We are looking at one of the most successful artists of all time; she has actually explored many genres, but she is best known as a global pop superstar, as called by Billboard itself. She has been super successful, has major pop albums, and has been named one of the greatest artists. She has many successful albums; now, her recent album “Life of a Showgirl” broke many records. She had one of the most successful tours – or, should I actually exaggerate more? – “THE ERAS TOUR”.

But to many people, she is an extremely overrated pop star. Her music is called mediocre, and her music sounds very standard pop to many people. Her recent album was commercially successful but was called her worst work; many were disappointed about its very bad lyrics and production. To be honest, I like Taylor Swift’s older albums better. I seriously like her younger and innocent era; those songs are something anyone can enjoy. This album is fun and is danceable, but seriously, I love her old albums. But it’s true that her new album samples many songs, and the sampled songs’ writers are not credited. Her singing skills have been addressed before; she has improved very well recently. Her instrumental skills are called beginner-level. But many people care less about it as everyone knows she only uses it as a skill to help her songwriting skills come out well. TTPD is actually a good album and is actually such a lyrically great one. Midnights is one of my favorites; it has really good songs.

REASON TO SUCCESS

One of the other things she was criticized for was having too many variants and taking advantage of her loyal fans. She managed to stay number 1 by doing this. I feel like after this, no matter what Taylor Swift releases, she is going to be criticized, but at the same time, she is going to break records. She has a loyal fan base who stream all day and night just to let her top charts. She is an absolutely great songwriter and storyteller. Her talent is undeniable, but she is a smart businesswoman as well. She has a loyal fanbase which is ready to go to any extent to help her break records. She acquired this fanbase through her earlier banger albums and also because she made her fans feel seen; she did many kind things; she did secret sessions, she sent Christmas presents, she saw many fans in the hospital, she responded to fans on social media, moreover, she writes relatable lyrics, the kind of lyrics everyone’s craving. She did all this to acquire such a loyal fanbase, and now her fame won’t go down. She won many awards and has gone through so much criticism; she is a great person for sure. But it’s not just her music that brought her to such a height.

HER LYRICS AND MUSIC

Her music is absolutely one of the greatest, she has inspired many rising musicians through out her life. Her lyrics is something that is absolutely beautiful, creative and undeniably powerful. She writes like a knife, her words and melodies combined together makes best music. She has written many songs alone and also with other writers, she mostly writes her song acoustically and converts into a real song using great producers. She has written songs about romance and heartbreak, it covers major part of her discography. However she has written songs like

“Ronan” which is absolutely heartbreaking, a song about a four year old boy who lost her life due to cancer.

She has also written “the best day” and “Christmas tree farm” which is about her family.

She has songs about overcoming yourself and depression like “you are on your own kid” which makes me cry all the time and there is “dear reader” which hold deep meaning

“mean” is a song about being bullied and this one won a Grammy and

“Anti Hero” is about self loathing and being the problem, it is one of her major hit singles

“epiphany” was written during the pandemic about her grandfather’s experience of WWII and about healthcare workers who worked hard during pandemic

And not to forget “fifteen” which is about having big dreams and about her freshman year in her high school.

This is one of her greatest bridges (in my opinion), this whole song is beautiful and has only four chords in the main song itself which is played in loop through out.

My favorite lyrics would be “Your Midas touch on the Chevy door
November flush and your flannel cure”. The line “Midas Touch” refers to the Greek myth of King Midas who turned everything he touched into gold. The chevy door refers to the Chevrolet. the line “November flush” refers to the red, rosy cheeks caused by the november cold wind and the line “flannel cure” means that her lover cured her cold by covering her up with a flannel shirt. It’s actually really beautiful. This whole bridge says a whole story and I feel like that’s why it is so good.

She is absolutely best known for writing beautiful bridges!!

GRACIE ABRAMS

Gracie Abrams is such a phenomenal rising pop star, she put out her recent album “The Secret Of Us” which received great success, she has done so many performances and her fame peaked. She opened up for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, which become one of her other reasons for her fame. Her songs are really great, every song is beautifully written (for me), her voice is so calm and her whispery voice just always never ceases to make me feel good, her songs while travelling by car just hits hard. Her new album is particularly my favorite.

NEPO BABY AND VOCALS

Well to be honest, she is always criticized for being a nepo baby, she is the daughter of renowned filmmaker J.J. Abrams and producer Katie McGrath, they are affluent and has industry connections which become one of her reasons to establish her place in the industry. But that is not her only reason, she has written and put out such good songs and albums. Her performances are simple yet stunning, she is a great songwriter. She is also lambasted for her bad breath control and also for having a very audible gasp of air while singing. People call it horrible, well I personally like it and I feel like it’s just her style of singing. People even call her music so lame and boring.

FINN WOLFHARD POST

Gracie made a post when she was 17 or 18 years old about 14 years old Finn Wolfhard referring to him as being "down" or "hot," while acknowledging it was a "sticky situation which is being hated even today, she was called cringe and gross, that post was considered inappropriate because of their age gap. She has apologized many times for her action, she acknowledged it as a careless joke and said that she feels embarrased.

HER MUSIC

Her music is basically just perfectly heartbreaking sometimes, her music has the bedroom rock and indie pop sound, well her recent album “The Secret of us” had Aaron Dessner as the producer and also a co writer, well you might know him if you are a Taylor Swift fan, he made the instrumentals for Folklore and Evermore. The instrumentals from those albums will be my favorite forever and always. The fact that having him as the producer was called a bad decision as well made my heart feel sick. the song “I love you, I am sorry” and “close to you” are my all time favorites. I will always love it!!

Well they are not particularly my type of song!! I am not the person willing to do anything for love, well most of her songs are like that. I will just absolutely acknowledge the beautiful melody.

this is like my favorite lyrics from the song mess it up!! I feel like the last line feels like something you could yell, it feels strong. My favorite line to ever sing!! the music video is actually frustrating ‘cause she makes a pink cake every time and drops it and my heart aches. I wonder if she really made that many and dropped it for the sake of the video.

Gracie Abrams usually don’t dance, she plays song with her guitar or piano and go around the stage sometimes. Well as a female artist she will be expected to dance. It’s hard to actually fulfill industry standards, your concert is not that much liked if it is not having you dancing energetically especially when you are a female artist.
