Anatomy of Poetry
A poem about poetry.
To write a poem is to elaborate,
Express oneself, and correlate,
Experiences the reader can relate,
In a manner easy to regurgitate.
It can be lyrical,
Or even satirical,
Describe a miracle,
Perhaps be spherical.
It matters not if it rhymes,
Nor the number of repeated lines,
Even if the writer just whines,
It will appeal to similar minds.
Its purpose is simple–the same as art,
Its structure is simpler–perfect to start,
Just be genuine–pour out your heart,
It can be therapeutic–you won’t fall apart.
It’s a useful tool for expression,
Nothing wrong with spiritual confession,
It’s simply a syllabic procession,
Full of your emotional concession.
